The Strike of 1993
On this day, twenty-two years ago, Flight Attendants of American Airlines organized one of the most successful strikes in the airline industry one week before Thanksgiving. For four days, flights for American Airlines departed without any passengers on board. On Monday, November 21, 1993, President Clinton brought an end to the job action. Three days later on Thanksgiving Day, a major ice storm hit the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and American Airlines was forced to shut down its biggest hub by Mother Nature.
