APFA National Officer Elections - LAA/LUS

The APFA National Ballot Committee (NBC) would like to inform all Flight Attendants about the upcoming National Officers Election and the process by which they are elected.

A Willingness-to-Serve (WTS) form will be posted on the APFA website on October 21, 2015. The APFA Constitution Article VI, Section 1 provides that  any active member in good standing may self-nominate or nominate another active member in good standing.  The WTS form must be completed and mailed to the PO Box on the form, and must be received by the due date of 10:00am CT on November 20, 2015. You may send as many copies of the form as you wish, but only this official form will be accepted.  We ask that you read the form carefully and either print or type your answers. The form clearly states that we make no corrections to spelling or punctuation.  The information that the candidate provides is then put into a candidate booklet that will be mailed with the ballot. If you have questions regarding the WTS form, please contact the NBC at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 817-540-0108 x8311.

Ballots, including the candidate information booklet, will be mailed to the membership on December 10, 2015 and all votes must be cast by January 9, 2016 at 10:00am CT.

The APFA Constitution Article VI, Sections 5.H.1 and 2 explain that "if no candidate receives a majority [50% + 1] of valid votes cast" for a National Officer position, there will be a runoff election between the two (2) candidates who received the highest number of valid votes cast for that office. Ballots for any runoff election would be mailed on January 19, 2016 and the runoff election ballot count would be on February 18, 2016. If there is a runoff election for National President, the NBC, in conjunction with an appointed moderator, will conduct a Presidential debate between the two (2) candidates. The debate will be held at APFA headquarters and is a closed debate, but will be taped and made available for membership viewing no later than January 17, 2016.

The duties of each National Officer can be found in the APFA Constitution Article III, Section 6. The balloting process and debate format can be found in Section 14 of the APFA Policy Manual. Both the Constitution and the Policy Manual can be found by logging onto the APFA website and then clicking Member Resources. If you have any problems logging in to the APFA website, please contact our membership department at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Remember, your vote counts!
